As a total beauty junkie, I spend far too much money and time that I don’t have searching for the perfect products. That being said, when I find a way to save money and incorporate new things into my beauty routines, I’m in heaven. Here are some of my favorite D.I.Y. make-up and beauty hacks for the summer:
Lemon Juice Zit Zapper
This hack is by far my favorite as it is the simplest of all. Simply apply lemon juice to any pimples or trouble spots before bed and wash off in the morning. This simple trick works wonders for any acne scarring too. Trust me, as someone who has suffered shuffling through any and all acne products, I was blown away to discover this much cheaper trick. As with anything though, patience is key.
Silky Legs in a Bottle
I’ve previously mentioned this recipe in my fall favorites way back when but with summer here, this is truly a must. I’ve never used a store bought scrub that can do even half of what this incredible homemade scrub can do. You won’t be able to stop touching your legs, seriously. Try it yourself and be wowed. Instant Crumble Fix
If you’re anywhere near as clumsy as I am, you are probably oh-so familiar with the pathetically heartbreaking feeling of dropping your favorite shadow or bronzer only to watch it instantly crumble before your eyes. Fear no more, no use crying over split shadow. Just add a bit of rubbing alcohol to the compact, smooth it around and let it sit for a bit. Your broken powder will return to normal soon, don’t run out to replace it just yet.
Pearly White Wash
Quit spending all of your money trying to perfect your smile with all of those expensive teeth whiteners. Instead follow this recipe which requires only a bit of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. As an avid coffee and tea drinker, I was skeptical for this to undo my damage but you will have a brighter smile in no time, I promise.
At-home Hair Rinses
These rinses are for true experimenters due to the nature of their bizarre, sometimes messy ingredients but they really do work.
Any time I need to add some instant shine to my hair, I’ll mix a bit of apple cider vinegar into some water and rinse my hair with it, making sure to let it sit a bit. While this isn’t the best smelling product, the smell doesn’t seem to linger and it will deliver the boost of shine you might be looking for.
Another trick for brunettes like myself, is to mix a bit of ground coffee into your some of your shampoo. Keep in mind, this rinse is messy! Be prepared to spend a little time washing out your tub afterwards, but the result? Silky, shiny, naturally highlighted hair.
Try some of these home remedies out for yourself and let us know what you think. Do you have a favorite D.I.Y. beauty trick? I’m always eager to hear more, comment below with any of your own tips and tricks.
