Trim’s April Favorites

It’s that time of the month again! Here’s what’s been getting us through everything from the beginning of spring to the rocky road to finals this April!

Marc Jacobs Nail Polish in Sally

(You can get it here)

Marc Jacobs’ new beauty line has been doing pretty well, and, for me, its polishes are the crown jewel of the collection. They dry fast, stay glossy, and they have made the most outrageously gorgeous colors you would not believe. This color, called ‘Sally’ is a deep shimmery forest green with a slight blue tint in reflected light. If you’ve ever wanted to feel like a kickass goth mermaid, I suggest you pick this up.

TONYMOLY Petite Bunny Gloss Bar in Cherry

(You can get it here)

I’m a sucker for beauty products of all kinds, especially those with adorable packaging.TONYMOLY is a Korean brand (no surprise there- in my opinion, Korea has been THE authority on adorable things for some time now) and this lightly tinted glossy balm is the perfect blend of personality and utility. Plus it’s about the size of a pen, so it’s easy to tote around!

Alexa for Eyeko Gift Set

(You can get it here)

Alexa Chung, like so many aspiring It Girls out there, is one person whose personal style I constantly drool over. Like her, I share a deep love of the 60s and the cat eye liquid liner trend. This kit, designed by Chung herself  with Eyeko an iconic London based beauty brand, has mascara and liquid liner, as well as a poster and a cool little guitar pick. I’ll take the 60s rocker vibe to go please and thank you!

Bar Necklaces

(You can get my favorite here)

This trend is popping up all over, and I’m sort of in love with it. I’m a jewelry purist- i go for only one type of metal and only a couple of pieces at a time, so this new, minimalist bar + chain style is perfect for my wardrobe!

Platform Leather Boots from Forever21

Source: Forever21

They’re no longer selling these online, but my friend found a pair at a nearby Forever21. They embrace the chunky trend while still managing to be streamline. In my opinion, a serious winner!

Food + Drink:

Starbucks Bottled Iced Coffee in Caramel

It’s been a rough month schoolwork-wise, and I think that without these to jumpstart me, I could have been considered legally dead by now. They’re less sweet that the first prepackaged Starbucks Frappucino (11 less grams of sugar per serving!) and come packed with all the good stuff you want out of your coffee

Annie’s Organic Cheddar Bunnies

They’re Cheez-Its with less salt, and are shaped like adorable bunny rabbits, call me a 4-year-old girl, but I’m sold.

Music & TV:

Black Cab Sessions (Solange & Fionn Regan)

BCS is a series of filmed acoustic performances in the backseat of the famous black cabs that are seen all over London. These are my two favorite. A while ago, while looking up Solange (usually referred to as ‘Beyonce’s little sister’ though I reject that description, she is so much more than that) I found this performance of her song ‘Bad Girls’. She proves she’s more than up to the task of matching her superstar sister’s singing chops, and looks awesome doing it. Fionn Regan is like a mini Dylan whose blues rock and smooth harmonica playing just takes you down. Enjoy!

Do I Wanna Know? (Acoustic- Live at Avatar Studios)- Arctic Monkeys

By now you probably have heard all of the Arctic Monkeys’ album ‘AM’ (if you haven’t, check it out on Spotify) but something about this acoustic cover of Do I Wanna Know? skyrockets the song upward– maybe it has something to do with how devastatingly cool Alex Turner is…

Broad City

The newest show from one of the greatest women in the world, Amy Poehler, gets even closer to truth about young people today- and casts some pretty amazing comedians like Ilana Glazer, Abbi Jacobson, and Hannibal Burress

I used to be a Political Science major, and this show, which is now on it’s 3rd season, is one of my favorites. Selina Myer, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, is the most hilarious, vicious Vice President we could have ever hoped for, and I hope it stays on forever.
