If you haven’t had the chance to visit New Brunswick’s newest boutique Kru and Krahn, you are missing out. Kru and Krahn, a unique clothing boutique opened its first store front nestled between the busy streets of New Brunswick last June and has been a hot-spot for students ever since. This year, the store held its first annual KRUfest, a vibrant event-filled day of shopping, music and prizes. We at Trim had the opportunity to get a first-hand look at what went down:
Kru & Krahn was the brainchild of proud Rutgers graduates Saymah Nah, Ralonda and Joseph Johnson. With thousands of students living in New Brunswick, the owners dream of having Kru & Krahn as a staple within the Rutgers community.
KRUfest featured many brands and vendors that teamed up to create the ultimate shopping experience. Crumbled Thoughts, Tribe NYC, Yesterday’s Glam and Inspired by H.E.R. were just a few of the exciting brands in attendance.
Kru & Krahn is a boutique unlike any other, specializing in not only the hottest styles around, but by also supplying New Brunswick with the coolest vintage and thrifted finds in the area. KRUfest allowed shoppers to buy, sell and trade any items they may find in their closet.
The second we walked into the store, the colorful decor and upbeat music transformed the boutique into an extravagant party that you never wanted to leave.
In addition to clothing items the store carries accessories, shoes, beauty products and a newly added menswear section filled with one of a kind finds.
“Next year, we hope for an even bigger and better turn-out” says owner Saymah, “By then maybe we could even shut down all of Hamilton street for KruFest.” The ambition and passion in all of its owners is turning this little Boutique into the next big thing.
Look out for KruFest next year if you missed out this time. In the meantime you can support this little boutique by stopping by any day. An extra plus? All Rutgers students get 10% off. They are also currently searching for future employees to join their fashionable team. Hop on board this sensation, Kru & Krahn just might be the best thing to happen to New Brunswick in a while. Check out their store at 191 Hamilton Street, or shop online at www.kruandkrahn.com
