Midterm De-stressing

With the swarm of midterms and papers taking over everyone’s lives this fall season, it’s hard to catch a breath. I personally have felt like I practically live in this library this time of year and from the looks of how crowded it can get there I can safely say I’m not the only one. Between classes, the weather changing, annoying colds and allergies your body can take the magnificent season that is fall and turn it into misery. Everyone needs to relax sometimes and with the weekend here, it is the perfect time to kick back and treat yourself to a night of true tranquility. Draw a bath, light some candles, turn up the music and distress with your own pamper night this weekend:

First, unplug your laptop, turn off your phone, and leave your Ipad in your room. The unnecessary stress of texting and badgering emails can wait till later.

Heat up a washcloth for a few minutes and put it on your head if you are taking a bath, if not heat up a bathrobe in the dryer for later, trust me on this one.


Next, I make sure I light a candle or two (maybe more, I get carried away sometimes), It creates a really calming atmosphere for you to unwind plus the smells can add to your lifted mood. Right now my Favorite for relaxation would be Volupsa French Cade Lavender it is like heaven in a jar. This refreshing scent is labeled as lavender but in all honesty to me it smells like a freshly showered man, either way it’s a win-win.

For me, a bath wouldn’t be a bath without Lush.  Their bath bombs, scrubs and shower smoothies are a must for a relaxing bath. Their products are all natural and handmade making it safe for almost anyone:

Another bath and body must for me is bath oil. Anytime I take a bath to recover from the past week, I make sure I have some bath or shower oil at hand. It is so hydrating for the skin plus it smells and feels amazing. Check these ones out:

L’occitane Almond Shower Oil: This shower smells exactly just like almonds which I love. It leaves skin so soft. You can also use it to shave as a replacement for your regular shaving cream, it’s even better in my opinion. Ambre Botanicals Bath Oil: Yet another product I love. This oil can be added to the bath to make you feel  relaxed. The herbal scent is so calming, you’ll be worry free in no time.

Don’t feel like splurging on a bath oil? Not a problem, pick up some essential oils from your local drugstore. They are usually fairly cheap and practically last forever since you only need a drop or two at a time. Add lavender for tranquility and relaxation, peppermint for a quick energizing pick-me up, or eucalyptus oil if you are feeling run-down or sick.

Feeling sick or sore? Try an Epsom Salts Detox bath instead of the baths listed above. All you need is some Epsom salts and a tub to soak in, Give it a try:


Now, go make yourself a cup of tea (My favorite is Tazo Calm right now), get out a good book and relax. It’s okay to stay in your pajamas sometimes, you’ve earned it. All that work and stress can wait till next week.
