Saturday Surprise: California Lovin’

Hi from San Diego, Readers!

So I’m in San Diego, California for a few days, exploring what I haven’t already from my past trips here and we wanted to give you a little something special this Saturday morning, a little California lovin’.

California, especially SoCal (southern California), is all about being fit and healthy, so I get caught up in the buzz every time I’m here. I’m staying with family right now, who live about walking distance to the beach and UCSD (University of California, San Diego)…or more like hiking distance. The walk is very, very steep, and hilly and requires lots of dedication and strength. But if you’re up to it, you won’t regret it! This “hike” has been one of the best of my entire life! For an amateur hiker, who doesn’t really work out outside (LIKE ME), this walk/run/hike/workout will take about ½ hour one way (depending on where you start) and a little bit longer coming back (since it’s uphill). Also, there are cliffs that are slightly hidden, that you can walk through. When you walk till the edge of a cliff, and see the rest of the coast right in front of your eyes, you’ll feel like you can conquer the entire world! I mentioned before that this is also walking distance to UCSD. The University includes Scripps Institute of Oceanography, which naturally, fits the location. They have built a really cool tower that takes you down to the waterside and also allows for some of the BEST views of the beautiful, blue, San Diego coast. Then you can go down, and enjoy a cup of coffee at an oceanside terrace café or go down to the water and enjoy a surf. Many people simply continue their workouts on the sand. Or…you can just sit down, relax, enjoy the moment…and the VIEW.

And when you climb back up the hill, after you’ve taken in how gorgeous nature can really be, you can be proud of yourself for having a GREAT workout!

So guys, if you’re ever in the area, check this walk out! Exact location details will be at the end of the post.

Until you get a chance to see this for yourself, here are some pics so y’all can live vicariously through me 😉
