For those of you that don’t know, our little monkey friend is from Dora The Explorer and goes by the name, Boots! He sports the timeless fashion trend 24/7. I thought it was only appropriate to make him the face of this post, since I will be elaborating on one of the closet essential our very own Miss Marisa mentioned earlier this week for this upcoming Fall.
My love for boots could be considered somewhat unhealthy. They seem to be one the first things I trot to the store for and purchase once the season rolls around. Therefore, I thought it would be a great idea to talk about the four major types of boots that have people getting really broke really early in the season.
First, we have our thigh-high boots:
Now let it be known, that one false move with the outfit you decide to pair with these boots can lead to strange glares from others because it is extremely easy to look like…I hate to say it…but yes, a hooker. Considering how high these boots are, it is important that you dress them up in a tasteful way. That is why I choose to only wear this sort of boot in black. It is easy to make another piece of your outfit the focal point. For example, you can pair the boots with stockings to soften the look of the thigh-highs with an over-sized sweater. If you’re not a fan of over-sized sweaters, maybe because you’re a little shorter, there are plenty of ways to make the boots work for you.
Secondly, and the next stop down the leg, we have knee-high boots:
I personally think it is better if the knee-highs are straight up, rather than them having a sort of ruching or baggy effect. Some may call them “slouchy boots” but I don’t think they’re very flattering. I think it makes your entire outfit look sleeker and much more put together if the neck of boot is straight up. Almost everyone I know and their mothers owns a pair of knee-highs because they are so simple to wear with your most casual outfit or even a fancy one!
My absolute personal favorite sort of boots are yes indeed, combat boots:
A little secret to let you all in on — I call these boots my “boss boots.” You can laugh all you want, but that is exactly how I feel when I’m stomping around in them. I can’t imagine how anyone could feel differently. I love these boots for the edginess they bring to any outfit. I probably wouldn’t suggest wearing them to go meet your boyfriend’s parent, but rather to intimidate the girl that won’t stop eying your boyfriend at the bar. Okay, enough of my situational obsession with combat boots. They really are the go-to boots when you feel like you need to add some spice to your outfit.
Lastly, and the last part of your leg that would be boot-appropriate, we have ankle boots:
I can’t say that I’m an avid ankle-boot buyer, but every time I see them on someone else they look absolutely adorable. Dressed with the right outfit, these boots can complement your outfit well, although you may not think so. If the rest of your outfit is super heavy and has a lot of material, then a simple ankle boot may be just the thing you need to complete it.
There’s our simply-put guide to boot season. Keep these easy tips in mind when shopping for boots for this rapidly approaching semester!
